Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to present this awesome dark blue 1968 Plymouth GTX convertible for sale. The GTX was based on Plymouth’s Belvedere and was sometimes referred to as “the gentleman’s muscle car”, because it received upgraded “luxury” features vs. the plain Belvedere or Road Runner. The 1968 model year also saw major changes in the Mopar lineup, with most models receiving new looks. [ omitted ]. The majority of the GTXs built were coupes, while only about 375 were convertibles. A lower percentage of the convertibles received manual transmissions than automatics, which makes this a rare chariot indeed. This GTX is painted in the EE1 shade of dark blue and has a white interior. The 375HP 440 Super Commando V8 is topped by its original Carter AVS 4BBL carb and is equipped with dual exhaust. Backing the big 440 is an 11″ HD flywheel, the requisite A-833 heavy duty 4-speed manual transmission, and behind that is the 9 3/4″ Dana 60 rear end with 3.54:1 gears and limited slip (Sure Grip) differential. This GTX is also equipped with HD torsion bar suspension, HD front sway bar, and HD chassis reinforcements (reinforced front and rear torque boxes), plus HD drum brakes.
The EE1 Dark Blue paint looks good in the sun and is not a super common color to find these B-bodies in, so you’ll be driving probably the only one like it in your town! The brightwork gleams, and the white convertible top is in good condition. Inside, the white seats and trim are in very good shape and provide a very nice contrast to the black dash and carpet. Of course, it’s hard to miss that “third pedal” and the long shift handle poking up from the console, and most find this is quite a rare bird indeed – one well worth pursuing for their Mopar collection. The fun really begins when you drop that power top and roll out! Additional features and options on this gorgeous 1968 Plymouth GTX include AM/FM Radio, Power Convertible Top, Radial Tires, Seatbelts, Spare Tire and Jack, and Vinyl Interior. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ].
